Don’t Bandage the Injury, Repair the Crack

by Sara White

If there is a large broken up crack in the sidewalk in front of the entryway of your house and you trip over it daily which leaves you with painful scrapes and bruises, let me ask you this: Do you fix the broken up crack which is the source of your injuries and pain? Or do you keep bandaging the injuries, medicating the pain and living with the unavoidable crack in your path? This example is a vision the Lord showed me that so many are doing in the body of Christ. We have learned to live with hurt, frustration, disappointment, lack, unhealthy behaviors and sin instead of allowing Jesus to repair the disrepair causing us to fall. Some of us need to call on the main Contractor who laid the foundation of this earth. We need to have him come in and break up the hardened, uneven and broken sections internally that are tripping us up on our paths to the doorways leading to our destiny. We all know concrete is extremely hard when it sets. It takes a strong tool that applies an extreme amount of pressure at a rapid rate to penetrate and break it up. Obviously concrete has no feelings so it doesn’t feel the pressure or impact. Now God’s children on the other hand, that’s a whole different story.

There’s a reason many don’t want to deal with the “broken up cracks”, it hurts. When Jesus starts applying the pressure of his word and his will for our lives going deep down and breaking up what has hardened within, it’s not comfortable. Even though what’s in us is broken, causing us to trip and endure pain, we often choose to bandage the wounds that stem from it to avoid the process of fixing it. We will look for new relationships, find new friends, look for a new job, change churches, take pills, drink, immerse ourselves in bad habits and anything else that temporarily subdues the pain. We look for ways around it, over it or we try to avoid it. At some point we have to take responsibility and decide that we are tired of tripping or falling over the broken places in our paths. We have to decide we want Jesus to apply the pressure of his word, love, grace, mercy, anointing and healing blood that flowed on calvary to the brokenness. We have to want the process even if it’s uncomfortable. We have to understand the pressure isn’t put on us to hurt us, it’s applied to push us to our knees at the feet of our Savior. It causes us to look inwardly and deal with things we don’t want to. Don’t keep falling and dealing with the superficial issues from the fall, deal with the root issues that are causing the fall. Maybe it’s past abuse, maybe it’s past failures, maybe it’s past sins or unforgiveness towards yourself or others. Maybe it is a current issue. Whatever it is call on Jesus, the ultimate contractor, to fix the broken up cracks in your life that keep causing you to fall and be bruised and injured. He comes with a lifetime guarantee, his work is flawless and the job of fixing you has already been paid for.
